Inspired by the historic GT Road that connects South Asia, the impetus behind Grand Trunk Rd is to facilitate fashion without borders, giving people access to beautiful wears.
This trunk show will feature a selection of formal wear and casuals by Pakistani Couture Designers from Lahore and Karachi - including Mehdi, Nayna, Zainab Sajid, Zara Shahjahan, and Sania Maskatiya, as well as unstitched lawn cotton pieces.
Q. Define your work in THREE words
A. Elegant, Unique, Chic (It's not that I've designed the pieces, it's what we've selected/chosen)
Q. Do you believe in signature style or would you rather constantly reinvent yourself?
A. A bit of both - I think you have can have a signature style that you update regularly with small pieces and as and when your lifestyle changes. I think when you're younger, you're reinventing yourself constantly as you're seeking out your own style and what suits you.
Q. A few emotions that impel and inspire you. Do you express the same in your work?
A. Joy, Sensible, & Humor
Q. When inspiration doesn’t flow through or when you feel stuck… what is it that you do?
A. Surf the web reading style blogs and checking out pinterest. Play a few rounds of Words with Friends. Cook.
Q. If you were to start a cult, what would it be ?
A. hmmm... a cult for people who have shopping regrets...specifically, for those of us who see something we love while shopping abroad, and after seeing that the product is made in India, we decide not to purchase it since we think we can get it here, but then once we're back, we can never find that product or a similar one here!
Q. What is the one place/ spot/ country in the world that inspires you the most? And Why?
A. Any busy airport in the world - love to people watch where you see such a range of people and different styles.
Q. Tell us about your collection that will feature at the Cool Hunting Show
A. Very excited to be featuring an edited selection of Pakistani designer formal wear that can be worn this holiday season to parties and other occasions, and some casual pieces that can be mixed into your everyday wardrobe - dupattas, unstitched cotton suits, etc.
Q. Finally, why are you looking forward to the Cool Hunting Show?
A. Shopping and seeing what goodies I can pick up for myself and friends and family! :)
