Q. Define your work in THREE words
A. Tres chic, bright & blingy
Q. Do you believe in signature style or would you rather constantly reinvent yourself?
A. I do believe in a signature style but at the same time it doesnt stop you from creating absolutely new styles or exploring something completely different and constantly reinventing yourself. It boring to continuously make products of the same style !
Q. A few emotions that impel and inspire you. Do you express the same in your work?
A. No, The only thing that truly inspires me is colour.when I see a whole bunch of colours, It could be in any form, My mind starts running.
Q. When inspiration doesn’t flow through or when you feel stuck… what is it that you do?
A. Nothing that I consciously do will change that. At the most I go sourcing and I know looking at sequins or some embellishment will spark that right spot in my head. !!
Q. If you were to start a cult, what would it be ?
A. A "bling by day, neon by night" cult. Basically stereotype like- day colours, night colours, morning fabrics, evening fabrics, make no sense to me.
Q. What is the one place/ spot/ country in the world that inspires you the most? And Why?
A. Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, old Delhi, it’s when I go sourcing and see the incredible amount of raw material around me is when ideas begin to pour out of my head.
Q. Tell us about your collection that will feature at the Cool Hunting Show
A. Since I specialize in box clutches, Its a wide array of designs in funky colour combination for the season. With an addition of zari embroidered and embellished briefcases, Which I like to refer to as "Brunch Bags"
Q. Finally, why are you looking forward to the Cool Hunting Show?
A. I love the attitude of people in bombay, I am starting to dislike the crowded exhibitions. The cool Hunting show seems exclusive and thats what I would like Gayatri Chopra bags to remain and be linked with shows like these.
